Regshot is a compact and easy-to-use tool which helps you see the changes that Windows and your applications are making to the Registry.
To get started, all you have to do is launch the program and click "1st Shot". Regshot will then take a snapshot of the current state of your Registry.
Next, you should install an application, run a program, or carry out whatever other operation you'd like to be monitored.
Finally, switch back to regshot, click "2nd Shot" to take another snapshot, and "Compare" to see the differences between the two. And in a few seconds a report appears highlighting every Registry key which has been added, deleted or modified, which can be very useful information when you're troubleshooting.
The report can also be lengthy, though, and will include any Registry changes made in the background by programs other than the one you were monitoring. So regshot isn't going to replace more powerful tools, like Process Monitor, which shows you exactly what each individual process is doing, in real-time. It's small, simple, and good enough for many applications, though, so regshot probably still deserves a place in your troubleshooting toolkit.
Version 1.9.0:
