WinBuilder is an interesting tool which makes it easier to create Windows-based boot discs.
In a click or two you can, for instance, choose the type of disc you'd like to create (there are XP, Vista and Windows PE-based projects on offer). You're able to choose the components you require from each project, and grab them all with a click on the Download button. And scripts automate the process of creating the disc itself, telling you exactly what to do.
Still, despite all this assistance, WinBuilder isn't for just anyone.
You'll need to understand which boot disk project might be best for you, for instance. And you must have the appropriate Windows source disc to hand. (You can't create an XP-based boot disc unless you have a legitimate Windows XP CD, for instance.)
And while WinBuilder allows you to customise boot discs, again you'll need some expert knowledge to understand which customisations might work, and which really won't.
If you'd like to be able to create a Windows boot disc with some powerful extras - 7Z for archiving, say, or a disc burning tool to help you copy files from an otherwise unbootable PC - then WinBuilder could be very helpful. But you'll need to be a knowledgeable PC user to get the most from the program.
Verdict:
WinBuilder does a good job of automating the process of boot disc creation, but you'll still need plenty of Windows expertise to produce something that will work for you
