If you can’t afford a laptop or even your own computer, there’s no need to do without your own desktop, programs and document space. As long as you have a removable thumb drive with over 1GB space on it then Ceedo Personal provides you with your own start menu that provides access to personal software no matter what computer you connect it to.
Once you’ve downloaded Ceedo Personal, start the installer and then choose the drive that you want to install it upon. You can run the trial for free for up to 45 days, after which it costs $39 to register.
Ceedo runs on any portable hard disk or flash drive, which you can then carry around in your pocket. If you need to access your desktop, go to the nearest available PC and plug in the drive. Ceedo Personal automatically starts and you can use the custom menu to access your programs and data.
The host computer provides you with the processing power and all other resources, including the keyboard, mouse, screen and printer, but all programs run from your portable drive. You can install new programs by visiting the Ceedo Programs directory. Browse through the categories available and select a program and click Download to install it.
Ceedo saves all your work and application settings to your portable drive. When you disconnect it from the host computer, all traces of your work are removed. It’s worth noting that Portable Apps provides a very similar service for free.
Verdict:
It’s very handy to carry your workspace around with you and Ceedo provides an intutive interface, but there are free alternatives like Portable Apps.
