Update Freezer is a compact portable tool which makes it easy to see and control many of your most important software update settings.
Just launch UpdateFreezer.cmd and you'll see the current update settings for Windows, Adobe, Apple, Google, Java, Mozilla, Opera, Notepad++ and Skype. And any of these can be changed at a click.
The Update Freezer authors apparently wanted to help people disable updates temporarily, and of course this can be useful. If you're currently on a laptop with a very expensive and slow mobile internet connection, say, it may be a good idea to disable automatic updates temporarily, just until you can get somewhere with better download speeds.
Update Freezer is equally useful as a general tool to see the current update settings on a PC, though. Run it from a USB stick and it'll quickly show you whether updates are configured as you'd like.
Of course you could do much the same thing by launching the appropriate application and tweaking its settings. Update Freezer just makes the process a little more convenient by presenting the update settings for several applications in a single place.
