Nero 2017 Classic is a capable media suite with tools for organising, editing, converting, playing, and of course burning your media files.
The revamped Windows 10-like launcher organises its tools in five sensibly-named sections: "Manage & Play", "Edit & Convert", "Rip & Burn", "Backup & Rescue" and "Extras".
Modules include Nero MediaHome, the place to track all your photos, music and video files.
Nero Video provides quick and easy video editing and DVD/ BD authoring.
Nero Recode rips disc contents or regular audio and video files, converting them to a particular format, to play on a certain device, or burning them to disc.
Nero Burning ROM is the core of the package, of course, burning CDs, DVDs or Blu-rays, optionally encrypting your content or splitting it across multiple discs.
The 2017 release expands its range with new support for playing movies with subtitles (SRT format), and adding additional subtitles yourself.
The time-saving "Multi-Export" feature helps you easily locate and extract multiple scenes from a long video, all in one operation.
The SecurDisc 4.0 technology uses 256-bit encryption to keep your data safe.
Gracenote support in Nero MediaHome ensures songs are always shown with their original cover art.
There are many more enhancements, including Nero's free apps, which now enable more reliable streaming of media from all your mobile devices.
Verdict:
There's no compelling reason to upgrade here, but if you don't yet have anything similar then Nero 2016 Classic is a solid all-round multimedia suite.
