Now unable to watch videos. Software says it is not supported. Why?

This is really good!! I look forward to more Ellp cards!

Unless you boot into safe mode to remove a sys file left over by the previous build, you cannot even install this one!

They don't cleanly uninstall their own software so leaves problems for a new install. I am over this.

On my machine I have SyncBackFree and it is set to backup myDocuments at 5 am every day. This program prevents that from happening as well as a manual back-up. I recommend BitDefender Anti-Ransomeware.

This is my default browser, and one that i am very happy with, as a person that enters many competitions, the form filler and various extention' s are excellent,

The installer is Korean. I had to accept the default settings with no idea what they meant. Found it added too much to the registry for my taste.

Over the years I've frequently deployed ResHack in order to personalize programs I use, such as putting in better or custom graphics and correcting annoying spelling mistakes. But it can do much more, and stands as one of the best tools available for Windows hacking.

500 mb recovery for a free data recovery program is a piddance. There are much better free data recovery software out there that is TRULY free without getting you to download then baiting to buy the pro version.

Not exactly freeware. It installs as a non registered version.

"Following a recent upgrade, I found the programme did not function correctly and sent emails asking for help.
After about two weeks, and using the two email addresses I had for them, I eventually got an email acknowledging receipt of email, but offering no Tech Support.
I complained and asked for a refund on my recently renewed upgrade but was told that, as I do not have a PayPal account, they are unable to refund my money -- Simple Bank Transfers seem to be beyond their capability.
This is not the first time their Technical Support has been completely lacking.
One month on, still no "fix" and still no refund.
My advice is to avoid this company and product."

The write up describes the free version. This is the Trial Software. As far as I know, there is no longer a free version.

www.downloadcrew.com reply:

Joseph, correct, but we don't re-write reviews for every single application change - this would just be unfeasible.

Although free to use, this is a trial and adds its own watermark comment!

For a number of years FF was my default browser. I think starting with version 40 (?), up to now, FF never worked properly on my Lenovo G50-70 or my two other computers. Poor page loading, jittery, then to just finally freeze up on me. I tried FF 48 final today and had the same crappy results. These days my default is cyberfox 48 and it is excellent. Too bad FF became a lame browser, but Cyberfox is an outstanding replacement.

Performance is noticeably slower in all areas.

I use Advanced IP Scanner. Reliable and free network scanner to analyse LAN. The program scans all network devices, gives you access to shared folders and FTP servers, provides remote control of computers (via RDP and Radmin), and can even remotely switch computers off. It is easy to use and runs as a portable edition. It should be the first choice for every network admin. http://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com

"which should offer some protection against ransomware"

Not a very inspiring verdict.
Seems likely that ransomware will perform one or more of the common disguises & therefore be undetected by this program.
To warrant download & install we need more info about which ramsomware is known to be vulnerable to detection by this program.

Surprising to see no comments recorded.
How does this product compare with the many other Rescue Disc prep programs available?

www.downloadcrew.com reply:

Comments are only "recorded" when someone writes a comment :)

Why don't you download and comment?

A far better option is to use the portableapps.com Platform 14 installer. Many of these apps have portable versions and the less you install on Windows the better it functions and the longer it remains stable. Platform 14 provides a start menu and updates apps as they become available.

Spotlight: Free Full Software

Paragon Backup & Recovery 16

Free Full Commercial Software

Paragon Backup & Recovery 16 is a very comprehensive backup tool with a vast array of professional backup and disk management features.

The program can back up a hard drive's master boot record, its first track, individual partitions or complete drives, for instance. It can also run file-based backups on the files and folders you specify. You can run a quick backup of your documents, music, videos, music or other media files. And there's even an E-mail backup, that will save your messages, accounts and address book (Outlook, Outlook Express and Windows Mail are supported).

You're able to run full, differential or incremental backups, the latter including only new or modified files for improved performance. A scheduler allows backup jobs to be run when you're not around. And your backup files can be saved to local, external or remote drives, FTP servers, or burned to disc.

Virtualisation support allows you to copy your entire system to a virtual drive (all the main formats are supported), ready for use in your virtualisation tool of choice.

Restoring data from backups is easy. You can selectively restore just the files and folders you need from within the program (even if they're held within a complete hard drive image). And if you purchase the program then you'll be able to create a recovery disc to restore your system drive even if Windows will no longer start (though beware, that is not possible in this trial version - don't rely on it as your main backup tool).

There are a host of useful extras, from basic hard drive partitioning tools, to an Undelete Wizard, secure drive wiping option, hard drive sector editor, and more. And there's more. You can create incremental disk images, helping to save backup time and storage space; you get the latest backup engine, for even better performance; and it supports the very latest hard drives, including AFD's and hard drives over 2TB in size.

Dropbox 22.4.24

Freeware

Modern technology enables a team to operate in different locations across your company and the world. If you’re a software developer, there’s no reason why you couldn’t pick the best programmers based in Germany, document writers from the UK, whilst your graphic artists could be based in the States.

The problem is bringing these people together. You need a system where your team or teams can share files and information, make sure that no-one overwrites someone else’s work and keep a collection of previously updated files, so you can quickly reverse back to a previous revision, if necessary. Doing this on your website requires you have the relevant versioning technology and that it will work across various operating systems. A versioning tool that works fine on Windows may not be suitable for OS X.

Dropbox is an online sharing tool that enables you to select the files you want to share and synchronise with other users, then simply upload them to the remote site. That bit is done automatically, so you don’t need to worry about having to upload the files manually. You can share folders and collaborate with other users on the files within these folders. Versioning will stop work being overwritten.

You can just use Dropbox on a personal level, too. If you own a desktop computer at home, use another at work and a laptop when you’re away from the office, simply use DropBox to synchronise your important files across each machine. You can also access your Dropbox files from the web, if you need access from a temporary host PC.

Better still, setup your software so they write preferences to your Dropbox folder, then sync these settings and preferences across your computers, enabling you to have the same setup across your desktop and laptop or PC and Mac, plus access from your smartphone.

Dropbox will limit you to 2GB of free online storage (and you can purchase more, if required) and is available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

New in the 22 series (see release notes for more):

- Regularly updated with many improvements and fixes.
