If you work regularly work with more than one computer at the same time, you may be used to the idea of working with a KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse). These devices make it possible to connect more than one computer to the same keyboard mouse and monitor, but Synergy+ enables you to share a keyboard and mouse by just using software.

This avoids the need to press a button or move a dial on a KVM switch and reduces the amount of hardware needed to run several computers. One computer must have a keyboard and mouse connected and this can then be shared with others - this is a simple matter of using the program to enable the sharing feature and then on other computer you can connect to the relevant host name to make use of the hardware.

Keyboard shortcuts can be used to speed up access to common features of the program, and it is possible to temporarily lock the mouse to one screen should the need arise. While Synergy+ does not make it possible to share a monitor, the use of a single keyboard and mouse is an excellent option for many people.

The stable version of Synergy+ is available for Windows, but there are also beta versions available for Mac and Linux. These are great tools if you work in a multi-platform environment and do not want to clutter up your desk with several keyboard and mouse sets.
