WinX DVD Author is a straightforward tool that makes it easy to create video DVDs.

The program is essentially a wizard, and so initially you'll import any videos that you'd like to burn (MKV, M2TS, M4V, MP4, FLV, MPEG, MOV, RM, RMVB and H.264 formats are supported).

One further click and WinX DVD Author will create a simple menu for you. You can also customise the menu background here, or add your own choice of background music.

Click Next, choose your DVD writer, click Start and you're done: the program will quickly burn your project to disc.

If you need more control then there are some additional settings available, where you can set the image ratio (4:3/ 16:9), video format (PAL/ NTSC), DVD Type (DVD-5/ DVD-9) and so on. You can also set the DVD Language, which by default is Chinese, so be sure to reassign this if it doesn't suit your needs.

The program has some irritations and doesn't always work as you'd expect: you can't drag and drop videos onto the file list to import them, for instance. It seemed otherwise solid and reliable in our tests, though, and if you just want a quick and easy way to create video DVDs then WinX DVD Author may provide everything you need.
