There are plenty of apps available for Android that will let you know what is happening with the weather at the moment and what to expect over the next few days. Most of these apps are very functional, but style is something that is usually lacking. This is something that 1Weather sets out to address, with an iconic set of graphics that convey information at a glance and a user interface that is both stylish and easy to use.

The app interface is divided into eight sections and these can be navigated by swiping from left and right – although unfortunately, once you reach the last section you then have to swipe back through them all again to reach the start rather than being to cycle back round. The first section shows the weather for today while the next gives you a seven day forecast. It is likely that you will have you r home town configured as the default location, but it also possible to define other favorite places that can be easily accessed from both of these screens.

Other sections include one that highlight severe weather warnings in the area, and the next shows the expected precipitation. For everyone in the US, there are animated radar maps that give you a great overview of what to expect from the weather, and the final forecast related section shows you the sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset times as well as details of the current phase of the moon.

If you feel so inclined you can share weather in a variety of ways from anywhere within the app, while the penultimate tab shows tweets that relate to the place you have configured to be your hometown. Finally, there are weather picture in the last section, but it is the forecasting and look that really sell the app. But the fact that it is available free of charge means that there is nothing to sell – although the is a Pro version available that does not feature ads.
