Keynote Mobile Internet Testing Environment (MITE) provides a powerful set of tools to help you analyse and improve the performance of your mobile website.
The process might start by just seeing what happens when your site is accessed by a particular device. It's extremely easy: just click Start Browsing, enter the URL, choose a device - iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, whatever you like (there are more than 2,100 products supported) - and MITE will show you how the page looks with that hardware. (This isn't an emulator, essentially it's just switching the user agent, but that's still useful enough.)
As well as seeing how the page is displayed, MITE will provide a detailed report on how it's designed. Is your content mobile-friendly? Have you configured your page for the best possible performance? Are you following industry guidelines to deliver a good mobile experience? MITE will reveal all, and even give the page a score, which can be very handy later as you apply tweaks and watch it increase.
The program also provides a detailed waterfall graph showing you everything you've downloaded, and its impact on performance.
A built-in script recorder allows you to create a test script for navigating a site, then replay it later, saving a great of time.
And the built-in MITE Code Inspector helps you analyse your site source code and identify problems without having to go back to your web design tool.
If there's a small hassle it comes in getting hold of MITE in the first place. You can't just download it; our link here will take you to a site where you have to create an account, first.
This doesn't seem too unreasonable when you consider what you're getting for free, though: Keynote MITE really is an excellent tool with a lot to offer anyone who's building or managing a mobile website.
Verdict:
Keynote MITE is an excellent tool which comes packed with functions to help you analyse your mobile website.
