FileList Creator allows you to produce a detailed report of any set of files on your hard drive.
This has many applications. You might want to record what's on a CD, for instance, or send someone a list of all your MP3 files. And if you're contacting technical support about PC problems then it might be useful to send them a list of the files in some relevant folders. Whatever your reason, Filelist Creator aims to help.
At a minimum all you have to do is drag and drop in the files you'd like to list, or point the program at a particular folder.
You can then choose what the report should include (name, path, dates, attributes, checksums and more), how the columns are ordered, grouped and more.
And when you're done, the report can be sent to the clipboard, or saved in a variety of formats (text, csv file, HTML table, or as a gif/ jpg/ bmp image).
While this generally works well, it's a slow process. We pointed the program at a user profile folder containing more than 200,000 files, and had to wait around 12 minutes for the report to appear. Turn on the checksum option and you may want to leave it running overnight.
Verdict:
FileList Creator has lots of options for producing detailed lists, but it's dreadful performance means most people will lost patience before they ever see a single report
