NETGEAR Genie is an interesting free tool which can help you to manage, monitor and extend your network.

Despite the name, the program isn't just for NETGEAR users. Whoever made your router, you can use the program to check your internet connection, run a speed test, view and be notified of other devices on your network.

There's also convenient access to common network tools like Ping, TraceRoute or DNS Lookups, and you may even be able to use the program to add AirPrint compatibility to a regular printer, so you can print wirelessly from your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.

You'll be able to set up and configure Live Parental Controls, manage your wireless connections, remotely control all media in your home from your smartphone or tablet with MyMedia, or just simply view and tweak your router settings directly, no browser required - very convenient.
