For all of the great things about Mountain Lion, there are an equal number of features that are annoying, lacking or disappointing. If you have found that the great notification tool Growl is not yet supported by the latest version of Apple’s operating system. This is something that Mountain Growl enables you to address, making it possible for Growl to make use of the Notification Center.
This is not the first tool that provides this functionality, but it is one that does it incredibly well. Mountain Growl works by intercepting Growl notifications that are generated by apps and ensures that they show up in the Notification Center instead.
Just as you would expect, you can interact with the notifications as you would with Growl itself; click on an email notification and the associated email client will load.
Hopefully it will not be too long until Growl 2.0 is released, complete with native support for Mountain Lion. In the meantime, this is a great stop-gap solution and one that does not feel too much like a bolted on option.
Verdict:
A neat solution to a problem that will affect and annoy many users – great stuff.
