If your PC is a permanent mess then Arrange Your Desktop may be able to help, by moving stray documents, images, executables and other files to their proper home.
Have you just copied a load of digital photos to the desktop, for instance? The program will create a desktop folder called "Pictures Files" (yes, really) and move them all there.
If you've a habit of downloading PDFs to your desktop then they'll be moved to a new desktop folder called "Documents Files". Videos on the desktop are sent to a "Video Files" folder, archives to a "WinRar & Zip Files" folder, and - you get the idea.
There are some odd deficiencies here. So while you might expect to be able to choose where, say, your images are moved (your Pictures folder would seem an obvious choice), this isn't actually possible.
And the program doesn't cover all common file types with its default settings. There's nothing for music files, for instance, although you can set up a single custom file type to cater for this.
Still, if your desktop is always completely full then Arrange Your Desktop might help you get just a little more organised.
Please note, the installer will by default install multiple browser toolbars and other "extras", using a variety of techniques to try and avoid your attention.
When we tested the program, for instance, we had to clear checkboxes to avoid these additions on a couple of pages, while clicking "Decline" on another. Pay close attention during the setup process, and if in any doubt, check Control Panel's list of installed programs when it's all over to confirm that you've only got what you expected.
Verdict:
While it's fairly simple (you could probably create a batch file which does more), Arrange Your Desktop is a quick and easy way to bring some order to your desktop
