Blurity is a powerful yet easy-to-use tool for sharpening blurry digital images. Its sophisticated algorithms will often deliver far better results than the "Sharpen" function in your image editor, but a simple and straightforward interface ensures the program remains accessible by everyone.

To give the program a try, for instance, all you really have to do is open an image, and move a box to an area of your photo which represents the blur. Click "Process", wait a few seconds and you'll see the finished results.

In our experience this was often enough, but if you need more control then clicking "Advanced" reveals multiple sliders where you can tweak various program settings ("Blur size", "Solver filtering", "Solver iterations" and so on). This looks more complicated, but you don't have to understand what the various terms mean: just change a value, click Process again and look for any changes. (Although if you're willing to learn then the manual explains all.)

Does it work? We got varied results. Sometimes they were poor, or didn't seem to deliver anything more than you'd expect from a regular "sharpen" filter. But on other occasions the program really did work well, recovering far more detail than we'd thought possible. You'll have to try it on your own images, see for yourself.

Please note, though, the unregistered version displays a repeating watermark over the processed image. Purchase a license ($39) and this will disappear, though. And there's also a Blurity Pro version coming soon, which will add TIFF and batch processing support, although this seems relatively expensive at $149.

Verdict:

Blurity is easy to use and really can deliver excellent deblurring results with some images
