MPEG Streamclip is a compact portable program which can play, convert, cut, copy, paste and trim your videos.
The program can import MPEG, VOB, PS, M2P, MOD,VRO, DAT, MOV, DV, AVI, MP4, TS, M2T, MMV, REC, VID, AUD, AVR, VDR, PVR, TP0, M2V, M1V, MPV, AIFF, M1A, MP2, MPA and AC3 files. You can play your files from the main interface, or use simple commands to select sections of video, then cut, copy or paste them.
MPEG Streamclip has simple options to export individual frames from your clip, or extract the soundtrack to an AIFF or MP2/3/4 file.
The real power comes when you're exporting video to QuickTime, DV, AVI/DivX or MPEG-4, though. As well as the usual resolution, frame rate, audio bitrate and so on, you're able to rotate, zoom or crop the clip; set a data rate limit; adjust brightness, contrast and saturation, add a watermark; apply a motion-adaptive deinterlacer, chroma reinterlacer or field dominance converter, and a whole lot more.
Verdict:
MPEG Streamclip is getting a little old now (this is a 2008 release), and its interface is basic, but the program still has a lot of useful features. Worth a look for more experienced users if more recent tools don't deliver the power you need.
