Wouldn’t it be great if you could take your entire music collection with you wherever you go? If you have an iPod or other MP3 player this is possible to a certain extent, but Google Music helps you to take things even further. This cloud-based service enables you to store all of your purchased music online as well as up to 20,000 songs from other sources – tracks you have recorded, downloaded or ripped yourself.
This is handy as is means you can access all of your uploaded tracks online as soon as you sign into your Google account. Google Play Music Manager is the software you need to help keep things in sync and ensure that all of your tracks are kept up to date. There is support for a reasonable range of file formats - mp3, m4a, wma, flac, and ogg, but there is a maximum bitrate of 320kbps
One of the greatest features of Google Play Music Manager is that you may find that you don’t actually have to upload your entire music collection in order to make it available online. There is a music matching feature which means that your music collection is analyzed and if Google Play already includes tracks from your collection there is no need to upload them as you can just play the existing versions.
If your own audio files are of low quality, there’s an added bonus: all of the tracks stored on Google Player are 320kbps versions so your matched files could well end up being available at a higher quality than you had originally.
Of course, the whole point of the Music Manager is to get your music online so that it can be accessed from any device with an internet connection, but if you would like to make it available offline, there is the option to download your entire library – this could be for backup purposes or to move your collection to a new music device.
An excellent way to listen to your favorite music on any device through Google, but you may have to be prepared to wait a while for the initial upload.
Verdict:
An excellent way to listen to your favorite music on any device through Google, but you may have to be prepared to wait a while for the initial upload.
