PPT to SWF Scout is a simple tool for converting PowerPoint presentations to Flash, handy if you'd like them to be viewable by someone who doesn't have a copy of PowerPoint to hand.
The program interface is a straightforward wizard that walks you through the conversion process. First you'll specify the input and output files, for instance. Then you get to choose how your slides will be stored (as slides, or vectors), as well as selecting a JPEG compression level.
Your final Flash app can be customised in many ways. There are options to set its size, soundtrack and navigation bar style. Slides can be displayed automatically (as a slideshow), manually (using buttons or the keyboard) or according to the default slide settings. You can even add custom branding by displaying your own preloader text and image.
The default settings work just fine, though, so you don't have to worry about any of these complexities: just click OK > Finish and PPT to SWF Scout will convert your presentation to Flash, then generate an HTML file to host it, and display this in your default browser.
Please note, PPT to SWF Scout is quite an old application - it doesn't appear to have been updated since 2009 - and we're unsure how compatible it might be with the latest presentation formats. The program did successfully convert the sample "Welcome to PowerPoint" presentation from Office 2013, though, so it's probably worth a try.
Verdict:
Basic but fairly configurable, PPT to SWF Scout does a good job of converting your presentations to a standalone Flash format
