GPS Navigation & Maps - Scout is an extended version of skobbler's previous app which provides online and offline maps (via OpenStreetMap) with free updates, voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation for cars/ cycling/ pedestrians, routing (choose up to three routes), basic traffic information, speed cam warnings and more, all for free.
There are some qualifications for that. On installation you're able to download an offline map for one country; if you need more, they'll cost anything from $0.99 (one city, Android only) to $10.99 (the entire world).
If the "basic traffic information" isn't enough then you can also update to "Real-time Premium Traffic" data (via Inrix) for a one-off payment of $10.99 (no subscription, that's it).
Still, even if you stick to the free version, there's plenty to like here. The maps are packed with local information from Trip Advisor, Foursquare, POIs, Wikitravel (iOS only); static speed cameras are highlighted; there's no loss of functionality when using offline maps (you still get search and turn-by-turn directions), and offline maps can be uninstalled and reinstalled as required, to save space.
GPS Navigation & Maps - Scout also looks good, with a clean interface, and is easy to use. You'll be able to concentrate on reaching your destination, rather than trying to figure out how it all works.
Please note, although it's from the same company, "GPS Navigation & Maps - Scout" is an entirely different app to Telenav's "Scout GPS Maps, Meetup & Chat", and doesn't have any of its chat or meeting features.
Verdict:
An easy-to-use navigation app which delivers plenty of features for free, and has reasonably priced updates if you need them.
