Corel's alternative to Microsoft Office is a comprehensive productivity suite that comes packed with features to help simplify your daily tasks.

Word Perfect, for instance, is a powerful word processor with particularly strong PDF support: you can open, edit and save PDF files, even with password protection. It can read and write Microsoft Office files (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx), too, including OOXML and ODF formats. And if you're familiar with Word then you can customise Word Perfect to make it work in much the same way, with many of the keyboard shortcuts you know already.

Quattro Pro, the suite's spreadsheet, can similarly open, edit and save Microsoft Excel files. It's a perfect tool for analysing data, and the new Visual Intelligence feature, which takes live data from the web and turns it into interface charts and tables, means the program is easier than ever to use.

Presentations is a little more basic, but still provides everything you need to build a simple slideshow, complete with images, audio and video. Of course it's also file-compatible with PowerPoint, and you can alternatively publish projects to HTML, PDF or Flash.

You also get Mail, a simplified version of Outlook that will still cater for most of your email, scheduling and contact management needs. Lightning is a tool for taking quick notes, screen grabs and more, than collaborating with others online. And other bundled extras include an electronic copy of the Pocket Oxford English Dictionary and the WordPerfect XML Project Designer, 900 TrueType fonts and 8,000 new clipart images.
