There are countless simulation games which place the player firmly in the deity role, controlling the lives of on-screen characters. Pocket God follows in the ilk of the Sims and similar titles, but this time you are placed in control of islands populated by pygmies.
By manipulating the pygmies themselves and their environment you can choose to be a god acting for good or evil. A simple menu system provides access to the various tools and options, and there are numerous hidden Easter Eggs to uncover.
If you choose to be a benevolent god, you may choose to supply your islanders with fishing rods so they can feed themselves, but if you're feeling a little evil you can shake your iPhone to create an earthquake.
Pocket God is an episodic game, and 47 episodes have been released so far - you can expect to see more in the future, so this is an experience that just grows and grows. If you're feeling power hungry, Pocket God will transform you into an omnipotent being with complete command over your subjects' destiny.
Verdict:
Pocket God is a perfectly balanced game that you can pick up and play for a few minutes, or while away the hours. Funny, addictive and great fun.
