Uninstalling software from your Mac should be a simple matter of dragging a program icon from the Applications folder to the trash. In practice, however, you are likely to find that remnants are left behind, and over time this can lead to a great deal of wasted hard drive space.

Using Amnesia to uninstall software is a different story. When an application icon is dragged to the program, a scan will be performed to check software dependencies so every file relating to a particular program can be removed.

The program can also be used to uninstall preference panels, dashboard widgets, and screensavers. Should you change your mind about something that has been uninstalled, Amnesia includes a backup facility that retains a copy of deleted files so they can be restored.

To prevent accidental deletion of important software, it is possible to configure a list of 'untouchable' programs. Should an attempt be made to remove any program on this list, an additional warning will be displayed as a security measure.
