Bitdefender has announced the first public beta of Bitdefender Total Security 2017 for Windows, OS X and Android.
The major addition this time is wi-fi protection. Every time you connect to a new network, Bitdefender analyses it and warns of any vulnerabilities.
Bitdefender’s Startup Optimizer can now be used remotely, allowing you to check a device and disable unwanted applications from anywhere in the world.
Enhanced Windows 10 support means Total Security can use native desktop notifications and the Action Center to keep you up-to-date with product events.
The product also works on Windows 10’s Anniversary Update, and is fully compatible with Edge.
Finally, it’s all wrapped up in a redesigned UI for speedier access to the tools you need.
The beta didn’t cause us any problems, but there are still plenty of odd bugs to trip you up. For example, if you’re not using Aero on Windows 7 then Bitdefender’s windows “may not repaint or be clickable”. Which could be inconvenient.
If you’re interested in sampling it anyway, Bitdefender is promising further beta updates on 11th August and 24th August. The beta ends 31st August, and testers who’ve submitted the best feedback will be awarded various prizes – Surface Pro 4, Galaxy S6 Edge, Pebble Time Black, a 1-year activation code for the final release – on 14th September.
Bitdefender Total Security 2017 beta is available now for Windows, OS X and Android.
