Postbox 3.0.3 for Windows and Mac released

05 March 2012, Nick Peers

Postbox, Inc has updated its cross-platform, commercial email client with a minor update. Postbox 3.0.3 includes a number of enhancements, some platform-specific, plus fixes a number of issues, including one that meant the “Check this folder for new Mail” feature didn’t work with IMAP accounts.

Postbox 3.0 was released last November and introduced tighter integration with a range of third-party apps and services, including Gmail, Dropbox, Facebook and Twitter. The full version costs $29.95, and a 30-day trial is available.

Postbox 3.0.3 adds a preference for changing the selection order after deleting, moving or archiving a message from the message list, and improved the mechanism for logging into your Dropbox account within the program.

It also adds support for archiving messages across multiple servers, disables the Archive function when viewing Gmail within a Label and changes the default search criteria from “Any” to “All” in Advanced Search.

Mac users also get some platform-specific improvements: support for CC and BCC addresses and multiple attachments in AppleScript, improved inline date detection outside of the US and the appearance of Evernote in the default toolbar set when Postbox is installed on a machine where Evernote is already present.

The update also includes a large number of bug fixes, which include resolving an issue that could see messages being redownloaded on each restart for Gmail accounts, ensuring the text cursor doesn’t disappear from the Compose window after adding an attachment and resolving a Windows issue whereby only the first 150 characters were copied from the clipboard.

Postbox 3.0.3 is available as a free trial download for Windows and Mac OS X. The full version costs $29.95.
