The rise in popularity of ebooks means that the release of iBooks for iPad and iPhone came as little surprise. The app was quickly snapped up my thousands of users from the App Store, and while the prospect of being able to enjoy electronic books on an Apple device was welcomed with open arms, there were a few issues.
These problems have been addressed in iBooks 1.1.1. The latest release of the app greatly improves performance when using the app to read PDF files. Problems with the downloading of books have also been fixed.
iBooks 1.1.1 also includes a number of new features. There is now support for books that include integrated audio and video, and images can be viewed at a larger size by simply double tapping them.
There are some books for which a language has not been specified, and in the first release of the app this made it impossible to use the dictionary to look up word definitions – this problem has been addressed in iBooks 1.1.1.
iBooks 1.1.1 can be downloaded from the App Store or via iTunes.
