It’s less than 120 days since Avast acquired AVG, but the company has just released the first results in the 2017 editions of AVG AntiVirus FREE, AVG Internet Security and AVG TuneUp.
FREE users will benefit immediately with speedy “Pushed Priority Updates”, ensuring they get the same immediate protection as users of the commercial products.
Both AVG AntiVirus and Internet Security now use AVAST’s CyberCapture cloud-based smart file scanner, delivering another layer of protection from zero-day threats.
The new releases can now be installed and run alongside other security products without conflict. The setup program detects other antivirus engines and automatically installs AVG in a new “Passive Mode”, greatly reducing any chance of problems.
AVG Internet Security 2017 gains a Secure DNS feature which verifies a website’s IP address using secure DNS servers, preventing redirections to fake sites.
AVG TuneUp now has an Automatic Software Updater to detect and automatically install updates for commonly-exploited applications (browsers, Flash, Adobe Reader, more).
Elsewhere, an improved Online Shield blocks malicious links and files, and a new interface simplifies operations and helps you find your way around.
The 2017 editions of AVG AntiVirus FREE, AVG Internet Security and AVG TuneUp are available now for Windows XP and later.
